Vent: Picked the wrong viral moment to lean into and it backfired hard
I was that guy who got famous for tripping over a hose at a farmers market in Portland last summer. My video hit 2 million views in 3 days. I had two choices: start a comedy channel based on falls and mishaps, or do nothing and let it fade. I went with the comedy channel because a buddy said to strike while the iron is hot. After 4 months and maybe 60 videos, I've got 400 subscribers and everyone just comments about that one hose video. I guess I picked wrong. Has anyone else tried to turn a one-hit-wonder viral moment into a real thing and regretted it?
Oh man, that's rough. I'd say don't force it if it feels forced - maybe just post the funny stuff you actually enjoy making instead of trying to recreate that one moment. People can smell when you're chasing a trend.
