A dude in a Target parking lot roasted my jingle knowledge and now I check dates before I post
So about a month ago I posted a clip of that classic Oscar Mayer wiener jingle and called it a 90s kids thing, and a guy in the comments went off saying it actually goes back to 1963 and I was spreading bad info. I got annoyed at first but he was right, I looked it up on a jingle history site that night and felt like a fool. Now before I post any old ad or song I pull up at least two sources and write the real date in the caption. Turns out half the stuff I remembered as 90s was from the 70s or 80s and I just saw it in reruns. Anyway if you post retro ads, do you check the actual campaign year first or just go off memory like I used to?
