Spent 4 hours hunting down why a streaming ad kept showing me the same 12 second clip
So there's this ad for some car insurance that plays before every video on this one free streaming app, and it kept freezing on the exact same frame, a guy laughing at his own joke in a parking lot, then snapping back to the start. I figured it was just my wifi being junk, so I reset the router twice and even moved the box to the hallway. When that didn't fix it, I spent a whole afternoon digging through the app's help pages and a Reddit thread from 2019 that was mostly people arguing about the same thing. Turns out the ad file itself was broken on their end and it kept trying to load a chunk that didn't exist, so it looped forever. The thing that killed me is the app had a tiny 'report this ad' link buried in a corner menu, and the second I clicked it the loop stopped after like an hour. Whole mess ate 4 hours of my Saturday for a button smaller than my pinky nail. Has anyone else run into a busted ad that just keeps restarting itself, and did you ever find out if it was your side or theirs?
