My rescue beagle got loose at Lake Nokomis and a stranger with a bacon sandwich saved the day
Took my beagle Rufus to Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis last Saturday and he slipped his harness chasing a squirrel near the pavilion. I chased him for 15 minutes while he treated the whole thing like a game, until a guy fishing nearby pulled a bacon sandwich out of his cooler and Rufus sat down like he'd been trained for it. Now I'm wondering if I should carry hot dog bits on every walk, or if that just teaches him that running off pays off. What do you all keep in your pocket for emergencies like this?
