Unpopular opinion: I compared ChatGPT and my neighbor Earl for planning a birthday party and Earl won by a mile
Last week I needed help planning a surprise 60th for my dad in Toledo, so I asked ChatGPT to write a timeline and it gave me a list of tasks so general I could have written it myself in a diner napkin. Then I asked my neighbor Earl, who has run 30 years of church potlucks, and he said to lock the cake first, then the room, then the invites, because those three things never move. I did that and the whole thing took me 2 hours instead of the 6 I wasted staring at the AI's to-do list. The difference was that Earl knew what actually goes wrong when 40 people show up, and the AI just knew what a birthday party is supposed to look like on paper. I still use AI for emails and dumb stuff like that, but for real planning with real people, it never gives me the thing you only get from someone who has been in the room. Has anyone here found a prompt that gets an AI to think more like Earl, or is that just a lost cause?
