I mocked the 'filler episode' lovers until Vinland Saga broke me
I used to skip anything tagged as filler, thought it was pure time waste. Then I marathoned Vinland Saga season 2 and realized those quiet farming sections were the whole point. My buddy kept saying 'the slow parts are where characters actually grow' and I rolled my eyes for 6 episodes straight. By episode 14, I was crying over a dude planting turnips. Has anyone else found a show that flipped their view on pacing?
See I kinda disagree with the whole take. Filler and slow pacing are not the same thing. Vinland Saga season 2 was planned that way from the start, the farming is literally the story. Filler is when a show has to stall because it caught up to the manga, like Naruto's endless flashback loops or Bleach sticking random side quests in the middle of a war. That stuff never pays off. The turnip planting did pay off. So yeah, quiet can be great, but let's not act like all filler is secretly deep.
