Trying to find a specific anime opening song from a 90s OVA was a nightmare

Honestly, I spent like three hours last night trying to track down this one song from an old OVA I watched as a kid. I only remembered a few seconds of the melody and some vague lyrics about 'eternal sky'. Ngl, I went through every '90s anime OST playlist on YouTube, checked like five different music databases, and even posted in a lost media forum. It turned out to be from a super obscure two-episode OVA called 'Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still', but not the main theme, a different insert song. Has anyone else had this much trouble finding a song from a barely-remembered show?

My buddy did that with a song from an old video game. He was humming it for weeks before someone on a forum finally recognized it. The relief on his face was real.

Yeah that "relief on his face" thing is so real. My friend had a tune stuck in her head for months, turned out to be the jingle from a cereal commercial from like 1998. She almost cried when she found it.
