Warning: I spent $60 on a 'complete' anime guidebook that was just a list of shows from 2010.

I bought it online last week thinking it would have new recommendations and deep analysis. It arrived and was just a thin book with basic plot summaries you could find on any fan wiki. The 'complete' part was a total lie, it only covered about fifty old series. I feel like I just threw that money away. Has anyone found a truly good, up-to-date source for finding new anime to watch?

That guidebook sounds like a total scam, fifty series from 2010 is not complete at all! I get all my new show ideas from a few YouTube channels now. They do real deep dives into each season's lineup and talk about what's actually good. MyAnimeList is still my go-to for keeping track of everything, but you have to follow the right reviewers to get past the basic summaries. It's way better than trusting some overpriced book that just copies old info.

Ugh, that's such a rip-off. Honestly, I find YouTube recs way too hit or miss, you really have to dig for the good ones.

Total scam" is right, I got burned by one of those books years ago. Now I just check what's trending on the forums.
