Am I the only one who misses the personal chats during house calls?
In my experience, back in the day, customers would often offer you a drink and want to talk. I fixed an oven for an older gentleman who spent the whole time comparing it to his first stove from the 50s. Do you find those kinds of interactions are less common now?

My last ten house calls, maybe two people even made eye contact. Everyone else just points at the broken thing and goes back to their phone. That older guy story sounds nice, but it feels like a different world now. People treat you like a delivery app that fixes things, not a person. I don't get offered coffee anymore, I get a door code texted to me. The personal part of the job is just gone.

Find people still want to talk, they just chat about different stuff now.

Totally get what you mean about chatting different stuff now. My group texts used to be all about weekend plans or new movies. Now it's mostly sending pics of our kids doing weird stuff or complaining about home repairs. We still talk every day, it's just life updates instead of planning parties. Kinda nice though, keeps us connected even when we're busy.
