That Tuesday last month when everything went right on a Samsung fridge compressor swap in under 45 minutes
Honestly I've always dreaded those sealed system jobs but after that quick fix I'm actually considering buying a proper recovery machine instead of just farming them out, has anyone else had a day that flipped their whole outlook on a certain repair?

Oh man, I gotta hard disagree with you there lol. One lucky 45 minute swap doesn't mean sealed systems are suddenly your friend, trust me on that. I've been burned too many times by those jobs that look easy until you hit a seized valve or find out the factory charge was off. Buying a recovery machine just because of one good day is like buying a boat because you caught a big fish once. You're setting yourself up for headaches when the next one takes three trips and you still can't pull a vacuum.

My 2018 swap on a Trane 4-ton took exactly 38 minutes from vac pump on to pulling 500 microns. Not every job is a nightmare, some are just clean quick money if you know what you're doing. One bad experience doesn't mean the whole method is broken, a good tech with the right tools makes sealed systems look easy.

Got a buddy who does nothing but sealed system work. Makes 90k a year just hitting those jobs with a heated recovery tank and a $200 vacuum pump.
