Am I the only one who's seen a tree go from healthy to completely dead in just 3 months?
I watched a mature oak in my client's yard in Portland go from full canopy to bare branches in 90 days because of a root rot issue nobody caught early enough, has anyone else dealt with sudden oak death this fast without any warning signs?

Did you rule out drought stress first? I've seen a lot of people jump straight to sudden oak death when the real problem is just a dry spell hitting a tree that already had weak roots. Root rot doesn't kill a mature oak that fast unless the soil was already waterlogged for months. I'd check if that area got a lot of construction or grading nearby, because compacted soil can suffocate roots way quicker than any fungus. Sudden oak death usually takes longer and shows more warning signs like bleeding cankers before the canopy goes bare.

Geez, my friend's maple did the exact same thing, roots cooked from a neighbor's leaky sewer line.
