Rant: I bought a $220 battery pole saw to save a climbing job and it lasted 40 minutes
Had a small dead oak limb hanging over a customer's driveway in Beaverton last month, maybe 4 inches at the cut, so instead of gearing up I grabbed one of those battery pole saws on sale for $220. Figured it would pay for itself by skipping the climb. Got 40 minutes of trigger time before the chain went dull and the battery died, and the limb was still there. Spent another $60 on a spare battery and a file kit trying to make it work, then climbed the tree anyway with my old 200T and had it down in 15 minutes. Total loss was about $280 and half an afternoon, plus the customer watching me fiddle with a toy in her driveway. If anyone has found a battery saw that actually holds up on real limb work past 3 inches, I want to hear it, because mine is now a very expensive campfire tool.
