Went with a Silky saw over a Fiskars for my pruning kit

I had to pick between a Silky Zubat and a Fiskars pole saw for this big oak job last spring. I went with the Silky because I do a lot of canopy work and needed something light but sharp. That Zubat cut through 6 inch limbs like butter, no fighting with it at all. Downside is the blade is fragile if you drop it, which I did once. Anyone else pick a brand for a specific job and stick with it?

Man that Zubat is no joke. I had the exact same dilemma last year when I was clearing out these overgrown crabapple trees in my backyard. I went back and forth forever and ended up with the Silky because I just hate fighting with a saw that binds up. The first time I used it on a 4 inch branch I was actually laughing at how easy it was. But yeah you are dead right about the blade being fragile. I chipped the tip of mine when it fell out of my back pocket onto some flagstone. Still cuts great though. For light work around the yard I can see Fiskars being fine but once you go Silky it's hard to go back.

I was always a Fiskars guy for years because they were cheap and easy to find at the hardware store. But then I borrowed my buddy's Silky Super Accel for a day of trimming on some old maple branches and it totally changed my mind. The cut quality is way better and you don't have to push nearly as hard. I ended up buying my own Zubat last month and I'm glad I did.
