Can we talk about the $60 foam roller that fixed my knees after I called it a scam for years
Six months ago I was telling anybody who would listen that foam rolling was made up nonsense for gym people with too much free time. Then my knees started aching on every job, up and down stairs all day carrying pipe and tools, and a buddy who does physical therapy told me to spend $60 on a basic roller and give it two weeks before I ran my mouth again. I figured worst case I was out sixty bucks, so I did it. First week was miserable, it hurt, and I almost quit on day four. But by week three the ache after work was mostly gone, and I could take the stairs at the shop without that little wince. I still don't get why it works, something about the IT band and my quads being tight from years of squatting in crawl spaces, but I can't argue with my own knees. I'm usually the guy who thinks most of this stuff is a waste of money, so this one surprised me. Has anybody else had a cheap thing actually do what it promised, or did I just get lucky with this one?
