Just realized I've been asking questions wrong for years

Three years ago, I was trying to get help with a plumbing leak in my basement and my post was just 'Water in basement, help?' I got zero replies. Last week, I posted again with the model of my water heater, a picture of the leak's location, and that I'm in Omaha. I got five helpful answers in an hour. It made me see that vague questions get vague answers. What's the one detail you always include when you ask for help here?

Honestly that's overthinking it. Sometimes you just need to vent or get a quick gut check, not write a whole report. If people really want to help, they'll ask for more details. The first post was fine, the forum just had a slow day. Not every question needs a photo and serial number attached.

Totally, like @jessica_hernandez17 said, sometimes you just need to start the chat.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I tried to get baking help without saying what kind of flour I used. Total disaster! It's crazy how one missing detail changes everything.
