TIL the Bondi icebergs clip I laughed at last month is raking in more per view than my actual shift pay
I kept seeing that video of the bloke sitting on an iceberg at Bondi, the one from around August, and I finally looked up how much those viral clips actually pay. A news piece I read on my lunch break last Tuesday said some of these Aussie accounts pull in a few hundred dollars a week from a single clip once it takes off on TikTok and the news channels. What got me was the maths. The iceberg video alone was reportedly shared over 4 million times across platforms in its first week. I did the rough numbers myself and figured that one freezing swim paid better than 4 hours of my shift. I have never posted anything, so maybe I am way off. Do the creators actually see that cash, or does the platform swallow most of it before anyone gets paid? I would like to hear from someone who has had a clip blow up.
