Drove down to Portland for a full respray on a classic F-150. Booth readout said 45% humidity all afternoon. Kept getting fisheyes and orange peel. Checked the actual hygrometer after three failed coats. Thing was reading 70% the whole time. Cheap sensor sat right next to the exhaust vent. How often do you guys trust the booth readout or do you always double check with your own gear?
Ran a 45% readout at a shop in Tacoma for two years before I finally put my own $20 hygrometer by the gun station. Found out the booth sensor was off by 15 points every time it rained, and my clear coats stopped blushing the day I started trusting the cheap one instead. Now I check my own gear before every coat, no matter what the panel says.
