PSA: I was block sanding primer dry for 2 years until a guy at a swap meet in Columbus called me out
I always thought dry sanding primer was fine since it clogs less and feels faster, and nobody in my shop ever said different. Then last spring I was at a swap meet in Columbus and an old painter watched me finish a fender, laughed, and asked if I liked buying paper by the case, since dry primer loads up in about 10 strokes and glazes over. Switched to wet sanding with a drop of dish soap in the water and my paper lasts way longer, plus the guide coat shows every low spot I was missing. So I'm the odd one out here, but I think dry sanding primer is a waste of money and nobody talks about it. What grit and soak time are you guys running on wet?
