Dropped $87 on a car cover that faded in one summer in Fresno

I thought a cheap cover would keep my paint safe from the sun, but it left white dust baked into the clear coat after three months of 105 degree days. Anyone found a cover that actually survives Central Valley heat, or should I just skip it and wax more?
