PSA: that fancy auto ranging meter on the flight line isn't always your friend
I grabbed our new auto ranging Fluke for a wing tip light fault last month at the hangar in Tulsa and it kept flipping ranges mid check so I missed an intermittent 2 ohm short that my old manual 87V would have caught in ten seconds. I mean auto ranging is handy for quick checks but for chasing bonded grounds it just hides the drift you actually need to see. Anyone else keep a manual meter in the box for stuff like this?
