Spent 3 years torquing cannon plugs by feel until a kid fresh out of school asked why I skip the click
I was working a pitot static job on a King Air in Des Moines and this new hire watched me snug down a cannon plug by hand and just stared at me. He goes, "don't those have a torque value in the AMM?" I laughed him off, then looked it up that night and sure enough, the manual calls for like 15 inch pounds and here I'd been going by wrist feel for almost 3 years. Pulled three connectors the next morning that I had done myself and two of them were loose enough to wiggle. The kid is 22 and I've been doing this for 11 years. What other stuff am I doing off vibes that's actually written down somewhere?
