Zelle sent $450 to the wrong Sarah and my bank said wait 10 days
I typed the wrong phone digit at my kitchen table in Tucson and the money hit a stranger's account, so I called support and they told me to file a dispute and wait 10 business days while the other person agreed to send it back. Has anyone gotten a bank to reverse a bad Zelle send faster than that, or am I stuck waiting it out?
Did you at least send it to a Sarah who needed the money more than the real one? Ten business days is basically the bank's way of saying they'll get to it when they feel like it. Your only real shot at speed is if the stranger who got it actually answers and sends it back on their own, because once you hit send on Zelle the bank pretty much washes its hands of it. I'd keep calling every couple days and ask to talk to a supervisor, sometimes that gets a manual push through faster.
At least you didn't send it to a Sarah who was gonna use it to buy something dumb, though honestly with your luck she probably already did. Your best hope is that stranger being decent enough to hit send back, because the bank's "10 business days" is really just them saying we'll look at it when we feel like it. Call again and push for a supervisor, and bug the wrong Sarah too, sometimes a little pressure gets it moving.
