I just found out The Office was almost cancelled after season 2, saw it on a random YouTube doc about NBC in the 2000s

NBC executives must have been having a real off day to consider that. Imagine a world without the dinner party episode or Threat Level Midnight. Their bad judgment is almost impressive. We dodged a bullet, but they clearly needed someone to check their pulse. The show was just hitting its stride, and they were ready to pull the plug. Some people really shouldn't be allowed to make decisions.
