Pro tip: A kid at the county fair made me rethink my whole approach to tongs
I was doing a demo at the Clark County Fair last summer. A boy, maybe 10, was watching me struggle to hold a small scroll. He pointed and said, 'Your pliers are too big for that.' I was using my standard 24-inch wolf jaw tongs. He was right. I made a tiny pair of scroll tongs from some 1/4 inch round stock that night. Game changer for detail work. Anyone else have a simple tool fix that came from an unexpected place?

Found that with a cheap paring knife.

Sometimes the right tool is just the one you already know how to use.

I get where you're coming from, but I actually see it a little different. Sometimes getting too comfortable with one tool keeps you from noticing when something else would save you a ton of time or give you a better result. I've definitely had moments where sticking with my old go-to knife made a job way harder than it needed to be.
