Vent: my coal forge blower died halfway through a 12 inch Bowie knife
I was shaping the clip point last Tuesday in my garage in Fort Worth when the blower motor just quit with the steel sitting at a dull red. I ended up finishing the heat with a hair dryer taped to a pipe, which took 40 minutes and left scale everywhere. What do you all keep on hand as a backup when your air supply gives out mid project?
A shop vac on blow mode saved my ass last winter. Not pretty, but it moves air and it's already sitting there. Keep a cheap spares motor on the shelf too, they're like 30 bucks.
