Decided between a flat back and rounded spine, glad I forced myself to try the rounded one
I've been binding for about 2 years now, mostly flat back binders because they're easier for me to line up. Last week a friend commissioned a journal and specifically asked for a rounded spine. I almost said no, but decided to just go for it. Took me 3 tries to get the backing hammer technique down without denting the text block. The curve ended up looking so much more natural, and the book lays open way better now. It took longer but I think I'm going to switch for all my journals going forward. Anyone else resist trying something new and then end up loving it?
