My 3 month old coptic stitch notebooks went from floppy to stiff and I think I know why
I made 5 coptic stitch journals back in January using 80lb text paper and a soft goatskin cover I got from a shop in Asheville. For the first month they were real floppy, pages would fan out and the spine had a lot of give. Then around week 6 I noticed they started holding their shape way better and the covers felt more rigid. I didn't change anything, same thread, same wax, same paper. My guess is the wax finally worked its way into the paper grain and the leather just dried out a bit in my house since its been so dry. Has anyone else noticed this with goatskin over a few months or is it just the winter air doing it?
