My friend said my plant care was too predictable...
She pointed out I was watering my fiddle leaf fig every Sunday like clockwork, no matter what. She told me, "You're treating it like a chore, not a living thing." So now I check the soil with my finger first, and sometimes it goes 10 days between drinks. The plant actually looks happier with less rigid care. How do you guys decide when to water your finicky houseplants?

My calendar reminder works better than my finger.

Honestly my phone calendar has saved me from so many missed appointments. I used to write things down on my hand and then wash it off by accident. Now I just yell at my phone to remind me and it actually listens. It's kind of sad when a piece of tech is more reliable than my own memory. But hey, if it works, it works. I'm not going back to the old ways.
