Spent $75 on a booth at the Bothell community fair and sold almost nothing
I grabbed a vendor spot at the Bothell community board fair last month thinking it would be a good way to meet neighbors, and I ended up $75 in the hole plus a whole Saturday gone. The foot traffic was mostly kids running to the bounce house, and the two people who stopped at my table just wanted to know where the bathrooms were. Next time I'll ask the board for last year's vendor numbers before I pay up. Has anyone here actually had a good turn at one of these booths, or is it just me?
The Bothell community fair isn't actually run by the board you're thinking of. I'm not sure which event you went to, but the board fair is usually a small neighborhood thing, not the big city one folks set up booths at. In my experience the $75 spots are at the bigger summer events where you get real foot traffic, so the price you paid sounds about right for a smaller gig. Your mileage may vary, but checking last year's numbers before paying is smart no matter which fair it is, since some of these events are mostly families and kids and not really shoppers.
