The Bothell city council meeting last Tuesday made me realize I've been ignoring the community board entirely
I sat in on the Bothell city council meeting last Tuesday at city hall, mostly because my neighbor kept going on about the new park plan and I wanted to see what the fuss was. About 25 people showed up, which surprised me for a weeknight. During the public comment part, a woman stood up and mentioned that most people hear about these meetings through the community board at the library downtown, and that's when it hit me. I've lived here 4 years and never once looked at that board. She said the postings go up about 10 days before each meeting and get taken down the day after. I went by the library on Wednesday and sure enough, there's a whole section with meeting agendas, a lost cat flyer, a signup for the fall cleanup, and a notice about the new crosswalk on 102nd. It's all just sitting there and I was getting my info from random Facebook posts instead. Now I'm wondering how many other people in Bothell have no idea this thing exists. Has anyone else actually used the community board to find out about stuff, or is it just me who missed it?
Man that board is a hidden gem for sure. I started checking it every Monday after work and it's wild how much stuff never makes it to Facebook. Here's my tip, take a phone pic of the whole board once a week, then you can scan it later instead of standing there reading. Also check the one at the rec center on 180th, it has different flyers sometimes. Took me two years to figure that out and now I know about everything before my neighbors do.
