A student in my class asked if $50 was a lot for a sponsored post and I couldn't answer without laughing
I teach 8th grade and one of my kids mentioned she got a DM from a protein bar company offering her $50 for three posts a week on her page with 2,000 followers. She looked so proud of herself and I had to bite my tongue. Back when I first started messing around online, a $50 offer for that much work would have been a laughable lowball, but now it feels like these companies have figured out kids will take anything just to say they're sponsored. Where did this shift happen where a monthly car payment worth of posts is worth less than a pizza? Has anyone else seen these tiny offers targeting really young creators?
