Paid $99 for a "creator verification" badge from a brand deal checker and it flagged a real $2,400 deal as fake

So I dropped $99 on a yearly plan for one of those sponsor vetting tools after getting burned twice on unpaid posts, and it told me a $2,400 skincare collab from a company out of Austin was a scam. I turned it down, then watched two smaller creators I know actually get paid by that same brand within 30 days. Now I am out the $99 and the deal, and I honestly cannot tell if the tool is just lazy or if it flags anything without a huge following. Has anyone found a vetting service that does not false flag smaller brands like this, or am I better off just asking for upfront payment?
