Bought a cheap mortar mixer off craigslist, thought it was junk, now it's my go-to

Picked up a beat up 3 bag mixer for $80 from a guy in Akron who was clearing out his shed. First run it sounded like a box of rocks and I almost returned it to the dump, but I added a new paddle and greased the gearbox. Now 6 months later it's mixed over 40 batches with zero issues. Anyone else have a tool they wrote off early and then it turned out to be a workhorse?
