Just realized dried beans cost me 22 cents a serving and I ignored them for years
I always figured canned beans were cheaper once you add up the time and gas for cooking, but a bag of pinto beans at the Kroger near me was $1.79 and made about 8 servings, which works out to under a quarter each. I checked the canned stuff on the same trip and it was 89 cents a can for maybe 2 servings, so I was paying 4 times more without even thinking about it. Does anyone have a system for cooking a big batch on Sunday and keeping them in the fridge all week without them getting mushy?
