My leftover chili disaster changed how I see meal prepping

I made a huge pot of chili on Sunday to eat all week, like everyone suggests for saving cash. By Wednesday, I couldn't stand the sight of it and some spoiled in the fridge. People always talk up big batch cooking, but it just made me waste food and money. For instance, I used all my ground beef at once instead of spreading it over a few different dinners. Now I cook smaller meals every other day, and I throw away less. It might take more time, but my budget actually looks better this month. Does anyone else find that prepping too much food backfires?

Hearing your chili spoiled by Wednesday... that's wild to me. Chili usually lasts way longer in my fridge, like the whole week. Maybe it was in a deep container and didn't cool down fast enough? I made a giant stew last month and half of it turned before I could eat it... such a waste. Now I just make enough for two or three meals max.

Always swore by big batches, but maybe smaller is smarter?
