Hit my 200th deer breakdown last Friday and it snuck up on me
I've been processing deer for hunters around here since I was 19 and I honestly stopped counting seasons ago. Last Friday a guy dropped off a nice 8 pointer and when I logged it in my notebook I saw it was number 200 for the year, which blew my mind because I thought I was closer to 150. What got me was realizing I've gotten my average time down to about 35 minutes from hide on to cooler, mostly from switching to a shorter breaking knife and doing the front quarters first instead of the back. If you're newer to deer, try timing yourself once a month, the numbers will show you where you're wasting motion. Any other guys track their numbers like this or am I just a nerd with a notebook?
