DAE still use a separate toner probe or have you fully switched to a multi-meter with tone gen?
I carried a standalone Fluke toner for years, but after a job in Spokane where my probe battery died, I swapped to a Klein multi-meter with tone. Has anyone else made the switch and found it just as reliable for tracing?

Yeah I was a toner purist for the longest time. That one dead battery moment on a Friday afternoon totally changed my mind though. The all-in-one meter has been solid for me.

Oh man, that dead battery feeling is the worst... been there. @emery19, my "purist" phase ended when I was crawling under a desk trying to find a tone and just started sweating like crazy. Now my all-in-one lives in my bag. It's not as cool looking, but it beeps every single time. That's a trade I'll make.

My old car taught me that lesson with its dead alternator last winter.
