First time installing crown molding and my brain short-circuited

I was cutting a long piece for a coved ceiling, holding it up at the weird angle, and for a solid minute I couldn't tell which side was supposed to be the top. Have you ever just stared at a piece of trim so long it stopped making sense?

Oh man, I know that feeling too well. I was holding a piece of chair rail once, turning it over and over, and my brain just gave up trying to picture the wall. I must have stood there for five minutes before it finally clicked. It’s like your eyes stop seeing the shape after a while. Totally normal, but it makes you feel a bit silly in the moment.

Tell me about it. I was putting up some trim last weekend and got stuck looking at a corner piece. My eyes just would not make sense of the angles no matter how long I stared. It's that weird fog where you know the answer but your brain won't give it up. You stand there feeling dumb until it suddenly comes together. Honestly, it's a comfort to hear others go through the same thing. Our minds just short circuit sometimes on simple stuff.

Ugh, my buddy did this with door casing. Watched his brain fry in real time.
