Shoutout to the guy who told me to try a track saw for a big sheet goods job
Honestly, I had to cut down a bunch of 4x8 plywood for built-ins in a tight bedroom last week. I was set to use my circular saw and a guide, like always. My buddy lent me his track saw instead. Ngl, the track saw gave me a perfect, splinter-free cut on the first try, every single sheet. The circular saw method felt slow and I was fighting tear-out. Has anyone else made a switch like that and been totally convinced?

Track saws are nice for sure, but is it really a game changer? My old circular saw and a straight edge still get the job done.

My neighbor was in the same boat, cutting melamine for a closet system. He always used a clamped board as a guide with his circular saw and just dealt with the chipped edges. I finally talked him into borrowing a track saw for one panel. He called me later, almost laughing, because the cut was so clean he didn't even need to run the edge through the router table. He bought his own the next week. It just takes that one perfect cut to ruin you for the old way.

Yeah, read a whole thread about this on a woodworking forum. A guy was building a big workbench top, needed dead straight glue lines. He said the track saw made the panels fit so tight, he barely needed to sand the seams. That kind of precision is hard to argue with.
