Hot take: stop putting the seam in the doorway on purpose
I keep seeing guys lay the seam right in the middle of a door opening because it looks centered from the hall, and every one of those seams peels within a year from traffic. Had a job at the Cedar Ridge apartments last spring where three units had done it that way and all three lifted by the summer. You want the seam about 6 inches off the door line so the backing has something solid under it. Anybody else got a foreman who swears by the dead center seam?
