Ripped out 300 square feet of carpet before I realized I was stretching it backwards the whole time

I was wrestling with wrinkles and buckles for months until a customer's uncle, a 30 year installer from Pittsburgh, pointed out I had the power stretcher facing the wrong direction and now I can't unsee it, has anyone else had that forehead slap moment after years on the job?
