I finally realized saying 'my bad' after a long work email sounds way worse than just 'sorry, I messed that up'
I typed 'my bad' at the end of an email to a client in Austin on Tuesday about a missed deadline, and I could feel the tone fall flat even as I hit send. So I rewrote it to say 'sorry, I messed that up, here is the new date' and got a reply in 10 minutes instead of the usual 2 days. I tested both versions on 6 coworkers during lunch and 5 of them said the second one felt more grown up. Now I am wondering if 'my bad' is already played out for work stuff, or if it was never fine to begin with. Does anyone here still use it at their job, or did you all drop it?
