That moment my buddy claimed he ran a 4.2 forty in high school, then I found his old track roster online
Was scrolling through an old county athletic records site last night and found my friend's high school track times from 2014. He told me at a BBQ last weekend he ran a 4.2 in the 40 yard dash and almost made varsity as a freshman. The record showed a 5.8 second 40 and he was 0-8 in meets that season. Has anyone else dug up old sports stats and caught someone embellishing their glory days?

riley_schmidt brought up that "0 hits all year" stat and honestly I'm sitting here wondering if it even matters that much. I mean yeah 5.8 is slow for a football prospect but your buddy was just shooting the breeze at a barbecue not testifying under oath. People exaggerate little stuff like that all the time to feel cool in the moment. Maybe he remembered it wrong or he was just messing around. Unless he's trying to get a coaching job based on that 4.2 time I'd say let the guy have his steak and beer in peace. We've all told a story that got a little taller over the years.

Man that 5.8 to 4.2 jump is brutal lol. I found my buddy's old little league baseball stats once and he claimed he hit like 5 homers in a season but the record said 0 hits all year.
