Just moved to Logan Square from the suburbs and the noise difference is wild
I came from a quiet cul-de-sac where the loudest thing was lawnmowers, and now I've got car alarms and bass thumping at 2 AM from three different directions. After two weeks here I finally learned to sleep with earplugs and a white noise machine. How long did it take you guys to adjust to city noise?

Two years in and I still use earplugs every night. The real trick is getting a white noise machine that actually blocks out the low frequency bass, most of them don't cut it. I went through three different models before I found one that worked. The city noise never really goes away, you just learn to tune it out during the day and block it at night.

Okay so you said "most of them don't cut it" with the white noise machines and that honestly made me laugh because I feel your pain. I got one of those cheap ones off Amazon and it basically just sounds like a fan that's dying, does nothing for the bass. Which one finally worked for you though? I've been thinking about upgrading but I don't want to waste money on another dud, there's so many options and the reviews all sound fake. Also do you sleep with earplugs AND the machine or just one or the other, I'm trying to figure out if I need both.
