Finally dialed in a tricky part after 4 scrapped runs
I've been fighting this aluminum bracket for two weeks at our shop in Cleveland, and this morning it finally passed inspection on the first try. Anyone else have a part that just refused to cooperate until you changed the tool path completely?
Tool path changes are usually a bandaid for bad speeds and feeds to be honest. If I have to start messing with tool paths that much it usually means I'm pushing the wrong chip load or running too aggressive. Maybe back off the rpm and take a lighter finishing pass before you rewrite the whole program. Four scrapped runs sounds like the machine was fighting the metal not the path itself.
I mean honestly I used to think tool paths were always the answer but you kinda changed my mind on that. Back when I was learning I'd jump straight to path adjustments before checking my feeds and it bit me more than once. Four scrapped runs is definitely a sign something deeper is off with the cutting parameters not the geometry.
