Ran the same facing pass for 2 years before a guy named Dale pointed at my setup
Been facing these 4140 plates at 800 rpm forever because that's how the guy who trained me in 2019 ran them. Dale from the second shift watched me for maybe 30 seconds and goes, you know your insert is rubbing, right? I checked the chips and sure enough, they were dust instead of those nice 6s and 9s, and I bumped it to 1200 rpm and cut my cycle time from 11 minutes down to 7. Anyone else out there just running whatever numbers the last guy left in the program?
