Serious question, has anyone else tried the new coolant from Tri-Chem versus the old stuff?

I mean, we switched to their new 'MaxLife' formula at our shop in Dayton about six weeks ago. The old coolant would start to smell bad and leave a film after maybe two weeks, but this stuff is still clear and doesn't stink at all. It's a night and day difference for keeping the machines clean. Anyone have a different brand they like better for long runs on aluminum?

That MaxLife stuff sounds like a real upgrade. We had a similar problem with the old Tri-Chem leaving gunk on the heat exchanger plates. The new formula seems to handle hard water better too, at least from what I've seen.

Noticed this happening with a lot of products lately, @jenniferw82. They push out a version that's just okay, then fix the real problems years later and call it new. Makes you wonder if they knew about the gunk issue all along. The hard water thing is a big deal for a lot of areas, so that's a solid fix. Feels like we're all just paying to be the testers for the first model.

Actually saw the old stuff leave film in under a week, not two.
