The day my spindle ate a $90 end mill and I just stood there laughing
Was running a job last Tuesday on a tight 3 day turnaround for a local shop in Akron. Everything was dialed in, feeds and speeds looked good on paper. Went to grab a coffee, came back to a sound like a bag of bolts in a blender. The holder had slipped in the collet just enough that the flutes kissed the part wrong. It sheared the end mill clean off and the rest got launched across the shop. I found a chunk of carbide stuck in the chip tray curtain. No damage to the spindle or the part luckily. Anyone else ever just watch your tooling turn into confetti and not even get mad, just impressed?

That coffee break cost you $90, but did it teach you to check your collet torque before walking away next time?
