A collector at my local shop told me my pull list was 'too mainstream'

I was grabbing my Wednesday stack at Cosmic Comics in Austin when this older guy looked at my pile of Batman and Spider-Man titles and flat out said that. It stung at first, but he handed me a copy of Silver Coin and told me to try something with a weird edge. Now I swap in one indie book every month and it's opened up a whole new world of storytelling. Anyone else have a random shop interaction that completely changed what you read?

Did Silver Coin actually stick with you or was it just a one and done?

Did Ice Cream Man stick with you? Same thing happened to me, I grabbed a random issue just to try something new and now it's one of my favorite weird books.
