Therapy group comment war over a cat photo, 3 years of drama in one thread

Last month I was scrolling through a local buy nothing group and found a post about someone's cat that passed. Seemed sweet until the comments turned into a full on war about whether the cat was actually the poster's or a neighbor's. One person wrote a 500 word essay accusing them of stealing the cat, another replied with old screenshots from 2021 showing the same cat in their yard. The whole thread had 400 comments in under 2 hours, and the original poster deleted their account by dinner. I still check back weekly to see if anyone is still arguing, and there's always a new person adding their two cents. Has anyone else watched a comment section completely derail a simple pet memorial?
